We wish to be a transparent and responsible company
Port of Aalborg and The Faculty of Social Science at Aalborg University wants to co-operate to attract international companies and highly qualified labour force.
For many years Aalborg University has had a tradition to support entrepreneurship and development of small and medium-sized enterprises. But now, the university is taking it a step further with a new partnership agreement with Port of Aalborg Logistics. The goal is to make Northern Denmark an even more attractive place for bigger companies and to recruit highly educated labor force.
United Vision
The central point for this new collaboration will be an internationally accredited business school, which purpose is to contribute to the realization of a united vision in the development of the Northern Jutland region and the region’s cooperate life.
– The partnership agreement between Port of Aalborg Logistics and Aalborg University Business School’s (AAUBS) research environment, education, and the companies of the region is a new and visionary way of thinking sustainable business development. A collaboration I have high expectations to since it will give a boost to the business life, research environment, and education. A boost that will support AAU’s and the Faculty of Social Science’s wish to elucidate a global profile, says Decan Rasmus Antoft, The faculty of Social Science.
One step ahead
According to CEO Claus Holstein, Port of Aalborg Logistics, Northern Denmark must be one step ahead of everyone else in the utilization of specialized technical knowledge in order for the region to attract big, international companies:
– It is about the very basics of capacity build-up. We obtain some of the world’s most competent engineers, and by commercializing their competences in the business industry – e.g. relating to financing and marketing – we sharpen our strong position regarding sustainable business development and make the whole region attractive for both national and international companies.
Stronger research and educational environments
The university is looking forward to being able to contribute to solve complex problem statements even more with a multi-disciplinary collaboration with the technical and scientific areas to benefit the regional business life in Northern Denmark.
– It is a strategic and important partnership to us since it brings new academic and economic growth possibilities to our research and educational environments. A stronger focus on international companies and development will attract researchers from home and abroad, at the same time we will have students, who are academically better prepared on our BA-educations, and also business- and IT-education, explains Head of Department Christian Nielsen, Aalborg University.
Big potential
Head of Port of Aalborg Logistics Lasse Frimand Jensen believed that the establishment of Aalborg University Business School will create a link between Engineering, Tech, and Business, which has big potential. Lasse Frimans Jensen says:
– Specialized engineering knowledge combined with AAUBS’ focus on sustainable, problem-based learning and collaboration with the industry can contribute to co-creation of strong green business models, which benefits the regional business life but not least Aalborg’s national green test area.
The 1st of September 2020 is the date of celebration of the official opening of Aalborg University Business School.
