New giant crane in first operation

Our new giant crane, a Liebherr LHM 550, has been put to work for the first time, handling giant offshore wind turbine blades.

Components for the wind energy industry are one of the main reasons for purchasing the new crane.

– With players like Siemens Gamesa and CS WIND Offshore in the East Harbour, we experience a great need for handling project cargo. The wind energy market is moving incredibly fast. As an infrastructure we need to be able to handle some of the world’s largest wind turbine blades, which are currently over 115 metres long and cannot be transported by road. Naturally, we must support this development with efficient logistics and transport solutions regardless of the size of the goods, says Office Manager, Planning & Operation, Michael Hasselager.

In addition to components for the wind energy industry, the new crane will also be used to load and unload container and bulk cargo, and the increased crane capacity will help streamline operations and improve the flow on the quay areas – including at the container terminal, where cargo volumes are developing positively.
