Scan Global Logistics at the Port of Aalborg have won a bigger transport tender, wherein the logistics company will be responsible for transporting the main components for 8 MW offshore wind turbines from Aalborg to Yunlin Wind Farm in the Taiwan Strait.
The global logistics company Scan Global Logistics, which has nine departments across Denmark, expanded a few months ago with a new office at the Port of Aalborg, and the company’s first big transportation jobs in Aalborg are now in full swing.
Up until September, the company is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of the main components for 44 x 8 MW offshore wind turbines, which will be part of the grand offshore wind turbine project Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in the Taiwan Strait. The orderer of the contract is Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, which has produced the components at the company’s factory in Aalborg, with shipping being undertaken from the Port of Aalborg.
The project has been greeted with enthusiasm at Scan Global Logistics, which sees many positive synergies in its position at the Port of Aalborg:
– It’s a big project, and we are very satisfied to have won the contract. It’s also completely fantastic that we can use our own employees in Aalborg for the task. This means that there are local people who are responsible for the loading and shipping, while we can also ensure that everything goes according to plan, explains Head of Industrial Projects & Renewable Energy at Scan Global Logistics Tim Johansen, who also expresses great satisfaction with the facilities at Port of Aalborg:
– The facilities at the port could not have been better. Everything, from the loading docks to the quay area, has made the loading go smoothly without problems. So we are really happy to be located in Aalborg in many ways, he says.
The total number of shipments from Aalborg comes to nine ships, of which three have currently been loaded. All loads are expected to be completed in September.
