We wish to be a transparent and responsible company
Port of Aalborg is currently underway with an extensive energy and façade renovation of an older office building. In addition to modernising the property’s expression, the renovation will improve the indoor climate, while tenants can also look forward to savings on heating bills.
A nicer workplace and lower heating bills. That is exactly what the tenants of an 560 square metre two-storey office building at Port of Aalborg can look forward to. Port of Aalborg bought the property a few years ago, and it’s currently undergoing extensive energy and façade renovation, which is expected to be completed before the summer.
– This is an older office building, and we have known the need for a renovation from the start. We are pleased the project is now underway. We have had a great dialogue with the current tenants, who can use the building throughout the entire process, and we look forward to offering them even better conditions for their businesses, says Construction Manager in Port of Aalborg, Claus Burgaard.
Port of Aalborg, responsible for designing the project together with AK 83 Architects as advisors, put the renovation project out to tender in autumn 2021, with HP Byg winning the main contract.
From oil-fired boiler to heat pump
The building was originally built by an oil company that used it as an administration building. Until now, the premises have been heated with an oil-fired boiler. As part of the renovation, the boiler is replaced by a new heat source, which, in combination with the other renovation measures, positively affects energy consumption.
– Among other things, we remove the old oil boiler, replace all radiators and, at the same time, install a new heat pump, which in itself will result in a noticeable reduction in the heating bill. Additionally, we replace windows, re-insulate and make new façades while we also install new roofing cardboard. In other words, the building’s expression gets a significant boost, as does the indoor climate, says Claus Burgaard.
