Last year the steel fabrication company Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang moved into a newly built factory at Aalborg port and since then the company has grown so much that it already needs more space. Consequently, Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang has just signed an agreement with Port of Aalborg for an area in excess of 16,500 square metres, which will initially be used for storage.
In many respects Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang has excelled since taking charge of a brand new 8,500-square-metre factory at Aalborg port in autumn 2019. In fact, growth has been so rapid that the company already needs more space.
Therefore, Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang has now decided to avail of an option in the contract they signed with Port of Aalborg back in 2018. This means the company will now purchase a further16,500 square metres as an extension to the new factory.
The new area affords Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang better conditions for holding and storing its constructions. This is the message from the company, which supplies steel structures and machining to a wide range of industries:
– Expanding our facilities is a natural step in the company’s development. The new factory has enabled us to increase our production capacity significantly, and due to an increasing order backlog, we need more space for storage of our constructions, which are also getting bigger and bigger. Initially, the new area will be used for storage, however we also plan to use it to further expand our machine factory in the future, says Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang CEO, Lars Christiansen.
Port of Aalborg is very pleased about the new agreement with Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang, which according to Commercial Manager Jeppe Faber is a perfect business case showing the potential for establishing a commercial enterprise at the East Port:
– Our mission to create the best framework for businesses at the port. Consequently, we are naturally delighted that such a company as Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang is doing so well that in such a short space of time after establishing with us they are further expanding their facilities, explains Jeppe Faber.
The benefits of the new factory and location at the port for Maskinfabrikken Fuglsang is best exemplified by the company landing its largest order ever shortly after commissioning the new facility. The orderer was another company at Aalborg port, namely Bladt Industries, which ordered 135 anode cages for Hornsea Two offshore wind farm in the North Sea, and according to Lars Christiansen, it would have been impossible to handle tasks of this magnitude without the new facilities:
– We moved into Aalborg port because we needed to optimise our setup. We now have far better conditions for both production and transport of the largest steel constructions, partly because we can ship them directly from the port. Basically, we can now bid for major orders which would otherwise have been impossible for us at our old facilities.
