Demand for establishing operations at the Eastern Port in Aalborg is high. Last year, Port of Aalborg therefore initiated the development of a new 15,000 square metre bulk terminal, named the Omniterminal, which was completed before the end of the year. Due to strong demand, an additional 15,000 square metres was launched shortly thereafter.
The terminal area is now already fully let, with two tenants having taken occupation of the site.
The new terminal area has been developed for companies requiring large, flexible spaces for the interim storage and distribution of goods.
For some time, we have experienced significant demand for paved areas near our infrastructure, where space-intensive cargo types can be stored. The Omniterminal is a direct response to this development. The fact that both the first and second phases were immediately let underlines the need. We are therefore already planning further expansion, says Mads Emil Beenfeldt, Commercial Manager, Bulk and Projects at Port of Aalborg.
Development in Line with Demand
The area has been established as an independent terminal section, prepared for the handling and interim storage of bulk and dry cargo requiring substantial space.
The site has been constructed with sealed surfacing to meet continuously increasing environmental requirements.
As a key part of the overall development of the Eastern Port, the area has been designed with a focus on multifunctionality and flexibility across different cargo types. At the same time, it can be developed in phases in line with customer demand.
More generally, one of our strategic focus areas is to work proactively to stay ahead and develop areas that match the future needs of logistics and infrastructure. With the Omniterminal, we can offer companies flexible solutions with access to vessel, rail and container terminal facilities, thereby supporting the needs of both current and future customers for efficient and scalable solutions, Mads Emil Beenfeldt concludes.
The total 30,000 square metres were established in the autumn as the first step in the development of the new terminal, and the Omniterminal is expected to be expanded to approximately 80,000 square metres in total.
