High construction activity and new green initiatives are why machinery company KLU Materiel Nord is upgrading its facilities in collaboration with Port of Aalborg. The company is currently in the process of upgrading its facilities in the form of, among other things, a brand-new warehouse, which will give extra impetus to the company’s green transition.
Soon, KLU Materiel Nord, which rents out a wide range of machinery and construction equipment to companies and private individuals, can look forward to using a brand-new warehouse.
This is the result of an agreement with Port of Aalborg for a significant upgrade of KLU Material Nord’s facilities at Oliehavnen in Aalborg, which has been ongoing since the autumn.
– We have had a good dialogue with KLU Materiel Nord, who needed improved storage facilities and better storage conditions for machinery and equipment. We extended their fortified area to the entire site during the autumn, providing better transport conditions. Now we have started the construction of a brand new 171 square meter warehouse, says Claus Burgaard, Construction Manager at Port of Aalborg.
Port of Aalborg is the developer of the new warehouse, designed in collaboration with Rambøll. HP Byg oversees the main contract after winning the tender in the autumn.
Storage of electrically powered machinery
For an extended period, KLU Materiel Nord has experienced significant interest in the rental of the company’s machinery and equipment, which is also the reason for upgrading the facilities. The new facilities will help meet the increasing demand and boost the company’s green ambitions.
– There has been a lot of activity in the construction industry, which we have also noticed with more and more stakeholders wanting to rent our machines, lifts, and equipment. This means we have gained more new customers and bought more machinery, resulting in a need for an upgrade and expansion of our facilities to keep up with the positive development, says Director of KLU Materiel Nord, Ulrik Knudsen, who continues:
– The new storage facilities support our green ambitions. Most of the machines we buy are electric, and thus we are continuously replacing the diesel-powered machines and lifts. We can store our electric lifts indoors with the new warehouse, which protects them from rain and frost, making maintenance significantly easier while optimising lifespan. In this way, the new facilities are important for us to continue with our green initiatives.
