We wish to be a transparent and responsible company
The construction of Danske Fragtmænd’s new storage facilities at the Port of Aalborg have reached an important milestone. The first of six new halls has recently been constructed by the main contractor Svend Aage Christiansen A/S.
The construction of Danske Fragtmænd’s new storage and logistics facility at Østhavnen is well underway. Recently, the first hall was erected next to Danske Fragtmænd’s existing facilities on Rørdalsvej, which in addition to securing greater storage capacity brings together the company’s transport and logistics activities at Port of Aalborg.
– It’s a big thing for us to see the first hall being built, which will be used as a terminal building with facilities for packing trucks. Even though there are only a few hundred meters between our current locations at the port, we look forward to gathering our storage and logistics facilities in one location rather than four, while we also look forward to benefiting from the synergies from it. At the same time, we now get more square meters, which means that we are able to meet the increased need for warehouse capacity and operational transport to a greater extent. This is possible thanks to a good cooperation with Port of Aalborg, from whom we rent the facilities, says Bo Kristensen, Terminal Manager at Danske Fragtmænd Aalborg.
New storage facility future-proves Danske Fragtmænd and Port of Aalborg
Port of Aalborg owns the site and is also the developer of the project, which was put out to EU tender in the first half of 2021. The construction company Svend Aage Christiansen A/S has been responsible for the construction of the building, which includes a storage hotel, a terminal extension, and a crane hall.
– We are of course pleased to be part of constructing the new storage and logistics center, which is a very visionary and exciting project, and which due to its size, location, and ambitions involves a lot of coordination with the project’s other players, with whom we have had a very good cooperation, says Project Manager at Svend Aage Christiansen A/S, Dennis K. Pedersen and adds:
– Now that the first hall has been erected, we look forward to the next parts of the project, where the crane hall can be highlighted as a special task, we look forward to seeing completed. Here, crane trucks must be able to drive around, which is why the 65×60 meter building must be built completely without pillars. It is always exciting to be in charge of tasks like this, where the construction consists of special requirements.
Port of Aalborg is also pleased with the new building, which is an important part of the Nordjysk Transport Center, which over the next few years will be expanded by almost 150,000 square meters.
– We are pleased to support the positive development of Danske Fragtmænd, which has been present at the port for many years. The increasing demands on logistics players mean that we are currently strengthening our setup significantly. Last year, we unveiled the expansion of Nordjysk Transport Center, which is an important part of us being able to continuously meet our partners’ ever-increasing demands for modern, multimodal storage and logistics solutions, says Senior Commercial Manager at Port of Aalborg, Jeppe Faber.
