We wish to be a transparent and responsible company
For more than 20 years, ShipCargo has been based at Østhavnen in Aalborg. Over the years, the area has grown significantly, but activity levels are still high for the company, which plays an important role for, among others, the local wind energy cluster.
Much has happened since ShipCargo established itself at Østhavnen in Aalborg. During this period, the area has evolved from a classic industrial port to a multimodal logistics and business hub with leading players in sectors such as wind, offshore and energy.
After more than 20 years, ShipCargo is still an important part of the area’s supply chain. As a modern shipping company, ShipCargo manages a wide range of tasks within all types of cargo handling, ship agency and port services that customers may require.
– Even though the conditions for our business have changed a lot over the years, we’ve always kept up. If we don’t evolve our own business, we stand in the way of our customers, which we have no intention of doing. On the contrary, it has always been our ambition to contribute to promoting the entire area through collaboration across companies and industries, says Morten Ingemann Andersen, Managing Director at ShipCargo.
Growth in the local wind sector equals more work
A visible proof of the area’s positive development can be seen when giant wings or 550 tons of heavy transition pieces are shipped from Aalborg.
As the local wind energy cluster has gained a national foothold, the demands on ShipCargo to work closely with local players and their partners are increasing.
– Since blade production really took off in Aalborg in the late 2000s, we have been very oriented towards the wind market, where we are constantly faced with new requirements for equipment, cranes and ship types due to increasing component sizes. This has changed the conditions for our business, and our employees have had to acquire specialist knowledge and expertise to handle very diverse tasks, says Morten Ingemann Andersen. He elaborates:
– In general, we have a positive outlook on the future. We believe that the volume and flow will only increase. Also in Aalborg, where we are ready to support growth and our customers with exactly the solutions they need.
