The port of Aalborg is the largest inland port in Denmark and is navigated via the Limfjord from the North Sea or Kattegat. Limfjord is a very busy waterway and both traffic and conditions can vary, so please follow the current navigation conditions here.

Water depth

The water depths along the quays may deviate from specified depths as well as official nautical charts and sailing manuals due to silting. However, we perform regular dredging to ensure the water depths.

Customers and users of the Port of Aalborg are encouraged to always stay informed of the current conditions by contacting the Port of Aalborg Traffic Service, which is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Navigation time

Aalborg harbour is located in the eastern part of the Limfjord and can be navigated from Kattegat via Hals Barre or from the North Sea via Thyborøn.

  • Navigation time from Hals Barre to the East Port: 1 hour
  • Navigation time from Hals Barre to the Central Port: 2 hours
  • Navigation time from Thyborøn: 8 hours
